Hamburg, Germany (co.uk) - WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko will next defend his title on May 29 against European champion Albert Sosnowski of Poland.

Klitschko's management group said the fight will take place at Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

"I am very happy to have my next fight in Germany again," said Klitschko in a statement. "The arena in Gelsenkirchen and the fans there are very special. I experienced that last year when my brother Wladimir had his fight there in front of 61,000 spectators. The atmosphere was simply electrifying."

Wladimir Klitschko, the IBF and WBO champ, beat Ruslan Chagaev at the Veltins Arena last June.

Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KOs) won each of his three bouts in 2009, taking a unanimous decision from Kevin Johnson last December 12 in Switzerland.

Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KOs) captured the European title last December 18 in a unanimous decision against Italy's Paolo Vidoz. He was scheduled to fight Audley Harrison in London on April 9, but cancelled the bout for a chance to take on Klitschko.

"A dream comes true," said the 31-year-old Sosnowski, who now lives in England. "Because of the Harrison fight I am already in training and suddenly comes the once-in-a-lifetime chance to fight Klitschko. I want to thank him and his team to give me that opportunity which I will definitely take. For me, Klitschko is already over the hill. I know that I am the underdog for everybody, but I tell you, Klitschko will regret that he picked me."

The 38-year-old Klitschko has won his last seven fights, although he took four years off between 2004 and 2008, and hasn't lost since a TKO against Lennox Lewis in June of 2003. It was Lewis' last fight.
